Oh, what a couple days this has been.
After telling you about my absolutely lovely Thanksgiving, Brandon and I decided to go to bed. After all, we were planning on getting up mighty early to hit the Black Friday sales. Just before heading into the bedroom, Brandon stopped in the kitchen to grab some water and noticed that the floor was covered in it.
He investigated for a minute and concluded that the water was leaking out of the freezer. But we didn't know at that point if we'd accidentally left it open a crack or if it was truly broken.
So we just went to bed.
But the next morning we discovered that, indeed, it was the latter. It was, however, five o'clock, and there was nothing we were going to do about it at that time of the morning. So we went shopping. I mean, what else does a person do in a situation like this? We went through with our plans!
Since we'd gone out so early, we were done by about nine. After quickly dropping our purchases on the living room floor, we bolted right back out the door to get ice. We had no idea how long it was going to take for our fridge to get fixed, and we were determined to save as much of our food as we could. We got what we couuld on ice and then began to call around.
We took turns. I'd call a few places, get frustrated, and throw the phone to (definitely not at) Brandon. He'd call a few places, get frustrated, and calmly ask me to try a couple more. (I have a hotter temper than he does, but we already knew this!) We never did figure it out, and we eventually gave up hope. This morning we started the process all over again.
But we finally had some success. About two hours after we made this particular phone call, two guys showed up at our door. They looked at our fridge for about two minutes. But they figured it out, had the part, and fixed it within half an hour. And several hundred dollars later, we were back in business.
Brandon was running late to work after this two-day-old fiasco, but on his way out, he still stopped to give me a kiss goodbye. And aftaer he'd done so, he left me contemplating these very wise words: "Being a grown-up sucks!"
